She completed her residency and served as Chief Resident at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 2017. Following her training, she joined Mayo Clinic Florida as a Consultant and Assistant Professor of Medicine, a position she held from 2017 to 2023. In 2023, she left her full-time academic role to take an active leadership position in the growing family practice, working alongside her husband, Dr. Sagar Vijapura, with a shared commitment to building a patient-centered, values-driven organization.
Beyond her work at the practice, Dr. Vijapura volunteers weekly as a primary care physician at Volunteers in Medicine, a local clinic providing free healthcare to the working uninsured population of Jacksonville.
PASSION for HOLISTIC and PREVENTIVE CARE
Dr. Vijapura’s philosophy of care centers on the understanding that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected and must be addressed together. She emphasizes the importance of identifying and optimizing physical and medical conditions in order to support mental health, while also recognizing how mental health challenges can affect the body as a whole. Her approach integrates preventive and lifestyle-based strategies—such as mindfulness, therapy, movement, nutrition, and daily routines—alongside appropriate medical care.
At the core of her philosophy is a belief in meeting patients where they are, without judgment, shame, or guilt. Dr. Vijapura recognizes that no one is perfect and that we are all shaped by imperfect circumstances. She encourages patients to approach their health with kindness, self-compassion, and grace, treating themselves with the same understanding and empathy they would offer a close friend. Through education and patient-centered care, she is committed to helping individuals achieve sustainable improvements in overall health and well-being.
